I love the feel of fabric. I love the beautiful fabric selections available in today's market. I love creating something lasting from fabric. Get the picture? I love fabric. It's as simple as that.
Sewing has been part of my life from a very early age. The women in my family sewed. It was just what they did. I watched and learned and it was just assumed that I would sew. There was never a question of if I could sew, or if I knew how to sew; I just sewed. Soloing on the
machine at age 8 making clothes for my Barbie is my first real memory of
sewing on my own. That machine was an old Singer treadle machine that had been converted to electric. It served me well from the doll clothes through Junior High Home Economics class to making my wedding dress. Unfortunately, some time after I left home, my mother got rid of that machine. That machine was like an old friend, and I don't even have a picture of it.
