As an avid fabric enthusiast, a blog about quilts and all things fabric just seemed the obvious thing to do.

Orca Bay Mystery Quilt Step 1

Participating in the Orca Bay Mystery Quilt is an intriguing adventure not only in anticipation of the finished product, but in the small blocks created for Step 1 and Step 2 in the construction of the quilt. Scrappy quilts are not my usual style, so this is also a 'step-out-of-the-comfort-zone' adventure for me. But admittedly, so far these little blocks are turning out to be nothing short of adorably cute!

When Step 1 was published, my initial reaction was "Augh!"....because my last project had been a small postage stamp piece; and the thought of working with 1.5 inch strips again so soon was daunting. However, using the companion angle ruler made it a snap. They turned out great! My photographic skills leave a lot to be desired, but here is a look the first 6 blocks.

After a little more work, here is the finished group complete with the pile of little 'dog ears' snips.
